After 21 years Bihar man finally gets his MBBS degree at age 53
After a constant struggle for 21 years, a 53-year old medical student from Bihar has finally managed to get his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree.

The Dalit student, Dr Kapildeo Chaudhary was awarded the degree on Monday by the Darbhanga Medical College (DMC).

Chaudhary is the oldest student of the medical college who took more than two decades to attain his degree. He had enrolled himself in the medical college in 1995.

DMC principal Dr RK Sinha told reporters, "Yes, Dr Chaudhary has been awarded the degree after he cleared the paper concerned in supplementary examination this year and finished his MBBS course."

Chaudhary had made headlines in February this year after he had threatened to commit suicide out of frustration of not passing the final exams even after two decades.

In one of his text messages to BK Singh, the head of the department of medicine at the BMC, Chaudhary had wrote, "Sir, now I am 52, now pass me. I want to become a doctor. Otherwise, I will commit suicide."

His messages did not go down well with the authorities and the principal RK Sinha had approached the police and filed a complaint against Chaudhary for sending such SMSes between January 31 to February 15 this year.

When the matter reached the police, Chaudhary took a u-turn and gave an undertaking to the concerned authorities that he will not end his life.

According to Dr Chaudhary, his poor health had not allowed him to concentrate on his studies.
