After political fever in online stores as they were selling off political 'items', sweet makers of Kolkata have started making poll sweets. Seems like general elections are boosting the confectionery business as all parties have been purchasing sweets in bulk during polls to garner voters' support.
The sweet makers are busy in making
sweets like 'Nirbachoni Mishti' , the oldest sweets like 'Sandesh'
and also designing the 'victory sweets'. Sweet makers are
concentrating more on symbols of candidates and their parties while
'Sandesh', a typical Bengali sweet with
the word of 'Joyee Hao' (be victorious) coated with cottage cheese
has been made by old sweet makers. Special counters have also been
created for these sweets. However, curious patrons and party workers
have already started buying them.
There was a time when people show their
fondness toward any of party by wearing those bands, scarfs, t-shirt
etc. in which logo of party had been engraved and now people are
opting for another direction and has modernised the campaigning.
