After Sushma Swaraj's visa threat, Amazon removes doormats with Indian flags printed on them
After India's External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj threatened to rescind visas of Amazon employees, the company has stopped selling doormats resembling the Indian tri-color flag from its Canadian website.

The issue was brought to Swaraj's attention by a Twitter user from Mumbai who had tweeted an image of the products available on the website to the minister. Swaraj then asked the Indian High Commission in Canada to take up the issue with Amazon 'at the highest levels'.

"Indian High Commission in Canada: This is unacceptable. Please take this up with Amazon at the highest level," Swaraj had tweeted.

"They must withdraw all products insulting our national flag immediately," Swaraj wrote on Twitter.

The doormats were being sold by a third-party on Amazon's Canadian portal. The issue had been brought to the notice of Amazon's official support account on Twitter and it has said that the mats were not being sold on their Indian portal and the concerns had been escalated.

Earlier, in June 2016, Amazon had put up doormats with pictures of Hindu gods and goddesses for sale. The company later removed the products from its website after it faced protests and call for a boycott on social media.
