After Tubelight fiasco Salman decides to compensate distributors around Rs 60 crore
Regardless of whether good or bad, Salman Khan's movies have always created magic at the box office. His Eid releases are eagerly awaited by the audience and open to packed houses. At least, that had been the story until now.

However, Salman's latest film Tubelight's box office collections seem to indicate that the times are changing. Tubelight which was released at the heels of Eid on June 23 neither found favour with the audience nor the critics. The distributors of the film were the biggest sufferers as they incurred unexpected losses.

According to a report in Mid-Day, the actor and his family have decided to compensate the distributors. Distributors met Salman Khan at his residence on Saturday, demanding compensation.

As reported by Mid-Day, a source present at the meeting said, "The distributors met Salman at his home, where his father, Salim Khan was also present. Salman has agreed to compensate them for their losses."

Although the exact amount of compensation has not been disclosed, it's believed to around Rs 60 crore.

On being contacted by Mid-Day, Salim Khan confirmed the news and said, "When a distributor suffers a loss, the producer needs to show some responsibility and share the burden. We, too, have done the same thing. We met a few of them and are trying to find a middle ground. We will pay back the distributors."

The veteran Bollywood script writer further said that the practice of returning money to the distributor wasn't new. He said, "We all have to work with each other in the future. So, it's good that like-minded people come together and make a decision, which acts as a win-win situation for both the makers as well as the distributors."

Not only Salman, but other prominent Bollywood actors have also compensated distributors in the past if their films have failed at the box office. Shah Rukh Khan had compensated distributors for Dilwale (2015), Asoka (2001) and Paheli (2005).
