Agitated candidates vandalise CDPO office
The office of the child development project officer of Khagarijan Integrated Child Development Services project was vandalised by the general public on Monday. They were angry on the illegal appointments of Aganwadi workers and helpers.
ON MONDAY (November 30), at around 11am, the office of child development project officer (CDPO) of Khagarijan Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project, located at Lakhinagar under Haiborgaon police station was vandalised by irritated public. The police rushed to the site immediately and found that the office was locked by the public from outside.
The people from the nearby locality informed that around 60 to 70 men and women gathered at the office campus and raised slogan against the CDPO for illegal appointments of Aganwadi workers and helpers.
An employee of the office told that at first, the people including some candidates raised slogan with placards against the results of Aganwadi workers and helpers which was hanged on Friday night. Among the candidates those who were not selected entered the office and started to protest against the result. They claimed that CDPO Rubul Sarma took bribe from some of the candidates for the appointment process. The office staff urged the candidates to submit a written complaint to the office. As Rubul Sarma was on leave, the candidates were asked to meet the officer on his return.
In the meantime, some of the candidates started to break window glasses. The office staff flew away from the office when they found the situation turning towards a bad way. The irritated mobs entered the office rooms and vandalised all furniture and files. After destroying the office property they locked the office doors and went away. According to the candidates and public involved in vandalising the office property, CDPO Rubul Sarma is totally corrupted and has given illegal appointments.
It is worth to mention that there are 20 ICDS projects in the district and among all, Khagarijan ICDS project had a good name but this incident has raised questions among the people of Nagaon that how long the deserved candidates will be betrayed for corruption? The security persons were soon deployed at the site to control the situation.
