Interestingly, in her dying declaration before a magistrate, she is believed to have mentioned that ‘mental harassment” by the local MLA and Telugu Mahila State President, Sita Dayakar Reddy and two other public representatives, caused her to take such a step. A day before she attempted suicide, Rajeswari had met the MLA at Kurumurthy temple in CC Kunta, where the legislator held an informal meeting with some officials and local leaders, Marikal SI, K Raghava Rao said.
Rajeswari had told the media in Mahbubnagar town that she attempted suicide due to political pressure.
The Mahabubnagar police registered a case of suspicious death under Section 174 of CrPC and handed over her body to her family, after conducting an autopsy. The case was registered against the MLA, Mandal President and another political leader.
Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy said that necessary action will be taken against the accused and authorities are waiting for the dying declaration. Small scale Industries Minister D K Aruna, also met the family members of the deceased official and and promised action againt the culprits, who were involved in harassing her. Some money was also given to the family members as imediate assistance.
Meanwhile, the AP State BC Welfare Association has given a call for an agitation, to pressure the government to take action against the MLA. They are conducting protest rallies here from Monday. The BJP and CPI have demanded payment of an extra ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the victim’s family.
Rajeswari’s parents alleged that pressure was brought on her by the MLA and others to distribute 32 subsidised sprinklers to their supporters and she refused to do so. They have named the MLA, MPP president C Bharathi Reddy and Devarakadra ZPTC, Pradeep Goud, as the main culprits in this regard.
