Agriculture is the real answer to our unemployment
People who are looking for employment in the IT sector should think again as agriculture is the real answer in our country. Agriculture is sure to reduce unemployment considerably in India.
SUDDENLY THE government has woken up from its slumber and wants to utilise funds, which was lying unused so far for Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rojgar Yojana (SJSRY), Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and Basic Services for Urban Poor (BSYP), among others. This time also they are going by the same old theory of training boys and girls according to the urban mood.

India possesses one of the most fertile lands in the world, which must be used properly and for that we need to commercialise agriculture. We should grow those crops, which will give revenue at much higher rate than the regular ones. We have agricultural graduates who after getting their degrees get employed in towns and leave the goldmine of agriculture behind.

Medicinal crops have a high demand and we grow certain crops that have high medicinal value. In India, 60 per cent of the vegetables are wasted by rotting. These vegetables can be washed cut and packed in nitrogen gas. It will remain preserved for centuries, which if utilised properly can feed not just our own countrymen, but the entire world.

If such units are initiated in the form of small and medium enterprises, it will not cost much and will also generate employment opportunities for the people. The funding can be carried out by the local panchayat. This will bear a positive result with employment as well as preservation of the vegetables.

Secondly India needs electricity. Electricity can be generated in the form of green waste, which includes waste particles from rice kernels, hay etc. National electricity Board is ready to purchase these electricity produced at a profitable rate.

On the poultry-side, rabbit farming and pig rearing has good international demand. Beside these, there are certain varieties of sheep whose milk has medicinal value. It is available in the hills and we can grow these sheep’s commercially and use their milk to produce medicines.

If we analyse the village economy and its available resources we will find plenty of earning source lying to be tapped. Instead of this we are only keen on IT sector, which has become over loaded as well as Industrial sector thinking it will solve employment.

It is a tragedy that there so called educated IAS secretaries and yet the Government is looking towards foreign nations for our survival instead of looking down towards our rural India, which has the gold reserve. It is a general feeling that higher education has spoilt our economic self reliance.
