AIIMS doctors reach Assam to treat Dr. Goswami
Jnanpith award recipient and noted writer Dr. Mamoni Raisom Goswami, who was admitted in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, was attended by a team of doctors from AIIMS. Dr. Goswami's condition remains critical.
THE CONDITION of Jnanpith award recipient Dr. Mamoni Raisom Goswami continues to be critical. Dr Goswami was admitted to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital with severe respiratory problems, and has been kept on ventilator since Saturday.
 
However, a team of two specialist doctors from AIIMS reached Guwahati to treat Dr. Goswami were brought in based on the instructions given by Chief Minsiter Tarun Gogoi. One of the two visiting doctors is an expert in chest related diseases, and the other doctor is an anaesthesiologist.

The doctors treating Dr. Goswami say that she was suffering from pneumonia with other complications such as septicemia. On the recommendation of the doctors, Dr. Goswami was put on ventilator support.


Governor of Assam J.B Patnaik, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and many other senior bureaucrats from the state wished Dr. Goswami a speedy recovery.


It is pertinent to mention that Dr. Goswami had played a prominent role in bringing the United Liberation Front of Asom(ULFA) and the Centre to the negotiating table. Apart from this, she is also a recipient of various national and international awards.
