AIPMT 2015 cancelled, Supreme Court asks CBSE to hold fresh exams
The Supreme Court on Monday ordered the cancellation of the controversial All India Pre-Medical Entrance Test (AIPMT) 2015 held in May and directed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to re-conduct the test within four weeks.

Nearly 6.30 lakh students had appeared for the AIPMT 2015, but the apex court set aside the entrance exam results on the grounds of large scale irregularities, including leakage of answer keys.

The verdict has affected lakhs of hopeful medical aspirants whose examination went well. At the same time the cancellation of the examination has given second chance to those who failed to perform well in May.

The exam results which were to be announced on June 5th, were held back because of the irregularities. The court was hearing a batch of petitions filed by candidates, who wrote the exam, seeking its cancellation.

The CBSE has initially opposed the cancellation of the test saying 6.3 lakh students cannot be made to take the exam afresh when only 44 students have been found involved in taking benefits through unfair means.
