AFTER REMAINING out of work for five days, the Air India executive pilots called of their strike on Wednesday (September 30) morning. Captain VK Bhalla, who was spearheading the stir, said that the executive pilots would resume work on Wednesday.
On Wednesday morning, Bhalla announced the end of the strike at a press conference. He said this was being done in view of an assurance from Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel that status quo would continue on issues of pay.
Bhalla thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for intervening in the issue. He also apologised to the passengers for the inconvenience caused by the strike. The end of five-days strike is a shy of relief for air passengers. As experts feared the private airlines might raise the airfares above 200 per cent.
