'Airlift' starring Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur in the lead role has turned out to be the first biggest blockbuster of this year. The film just not has received positive reviews from the critics but also made big at the box office.

With a box office opening at Rs 12.35 crore on Friday, the film has now already crossed Rs 70-crore mark in just five days of its release. Taran Adarsh, the trade analyst took to Twitter to share the box office collection of 'Airlift'.

Set in the 1990, the film has a gripping screenplay that makes it gritty and realistic. Written and directed by Raja Menon, Bhushan Kumar's 'Airlift' makes everyone feel proud to be an Indian. It portrays the story of evacuation of the Indians trapped in Kuwait during the Gulf War.

In 1990, a total of 1.70 lakh Indian citizens were evacuated and taken back to Mumbai on 488 Air India flights in over 57 days. 'Airlift' successfully deals with the subject that is still a living memory for many. In almost all parts of the film, it stays real and gritty as was the evacuation.
