Ajmer Sharif Urs: Chadar offered on behalf of PM Modi
Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi offered a 'Chadar' at the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti on behalf of Prime Minister Narendar Modi on April 10. Currently, Khwaja's 804th Urs is being observed that will conclude on April 14. Several thousand followers cutting across the religious lines are visiting the shrine daily.

While asserting that NDA government was committed to ensure development of minorities, Naqvi read out the PM Modi's message greeting the devotees of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti that termed the Sufi Saint an amazing example of great Sufi traditions of India, which regarded service to the humanity as best form of 'Ibaadat' and a source of inspiration even today. The message also stated that annual Urs should bring peace and happiness across the world.

On his behalf, Naqvi said that Khwaja's message of communal harmony was a strong weapon to protect human values and defeat nefarious designs of terror forces. In India, terrorism and radicalism have failed to establish its roots in the country because every Indian was passionate about protecting the country's pride. He called on people to remain alert so that the evil forces trying to disturb world peace, prosperity and security by misusing religion could be defeated.

This time, 371 'jayreen' from Pakistan led by the Deputy Secretary of the Pakistani Ministry of Religious Affairs, Efreed Islam Khatak have arrived in the city. They would stay in Ajmer till April 16, according to the district administration. The Pakistani delegation offered a chadar at the dargah on behalf of Pak government.

Earlier, Sufi shrine's committee had invited PM Narendra Modi to visit Ajmer Dargah and requested him to declare Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti as a national holiday.
