Ajmer to host three day national conference on mathematics education
A three-day national conference on "Developing Mathematics Teachers for Quality Learning for All" is being organised by Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Ajmer, from December 20 to 22. The RIE is a wing of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and organises teacher education and school reform activities at the regional level.

Themes of the conference are the subject and pedagogical content knowledge for teaching mathematics; pre-service teacher education for teaching mathematics; continuing professional development in mathematics teaching; and developing teaching mathematics through exploration, investigation and inquiry.

According to the organizers, the conference will focus on many questions and associated issues relating to the development of mathematics teaching and the education and classroom teaching Mathematics at the school and teacher education level. The organizers claim that the inputs for policy will be provided through seminar recommendations. The abstracts and full papers will be published as seminar proceedings.

It is being held that the three-day conference will provide a challenging opportunity to mathematicians, mathematics educationists, mathematics teacher educators, research scholars, academicians and teachers to share their thoughts, experiences and research studies and to make scholarly contributions towards improvement of teaching and learning Mathematics.
