Akhilesh Yadav, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, visited the Delhi gang-rape breveheart?s family at their native village in Ballia district and offered his condolence on the occasion of the 'terahween' of the diseased.
IN HIS brief visit, Yadav handed over a cheque for Rs. 20 lakh to the family and announced opening of a hospital at the native village of the braveheart. He promised that a primary health centre (PHC) would be set up in the village shortly.
Reportedly, the victim’s family was expecting the visit of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi also on the occasion which did not happen.
Speaking to reporters Yadav called the gang rape incident gruesome and justified people’s anger in the country over it and called for stern punishment to those guilty of the crime and apprised of women helpline started by the UP police to check crimes against women in his state.
