The 25-year-old Prateek Yadav did not deviate much from his family profession it seems, as he has taken up his father's other passion - being a 'pehelwan'. Little known to the world, the Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav before joining politics was himself a body builder. However Prateek is really serious about his profession and recently featured in an international body building website as "the international transformation of the month".
His choosing of the body building area has an interesting anecdote. When once he was ill with pneumonia and was back home from his school in Dehradun due to the illness he was put on steroids that eventually lead him to gain a lot of weight. By the time he was 11 he weighed 103 kg and at this time his father used to motivate him to shed off his weight so that he may be fit.
Talking to ndtv.com, the youngest Yadav said, “He would chide me and tell me not to gorge on mangoes, and tell me to drink my milk plain, without Bournvita, as weight was becoming such a big concern.” He joined a local gymnasium and finally lost 15 kgs. This motivated him to keep at it and keep his body fit.
Maintaining a body that fit is not an easy task. He has to measure everything he eats and he is a complete vegetarian. With multi grain rotis, protein shakes and olive oil he also takes a lot of vegetables and fruits. His main motive is to burst the bubble that for building one's body one has to gorge on non vegetarian food. With such a strict vegetarian diet and 18.25 biceps to show, very few people will actually argue with him.
While Mulayam Singh has his own way of showing that he is proud of his sons, Prateek says that politics only interested him when he was 8 years of age, not anymore.
