Alex T believes in universal beauty
Makeup artist and hairstylist Alex T has worked across the world with some of the biggest names in the fashion and beauty because she has a talent for bringing out the best in them all.

One of the main things Alex T loves about her career as a makeup and hair stylist is that it reinforces her idea of true beauty. To be more specific, it reminds her that so many different women of different cultures possess beauty; a beauty that Alex is called to work with.

Highlighting this for the world to see, Alex's work with international entities like Sephora, Nylon, and many others prove that no single place or people has a monopoly on attractiveness. You'll see her work in Esquire magazine, online, or in a brick and mortar but regardless of the medium, you'll feel drawn to the way Alex has brought the inner charisma of the models she works with to the surface. It's the reason so many of the best known brands and publications continually make use of her exceptional talent. 

Sephora is an iconic brand which needs no additional introduction. Since 1969, this French based company has expanded internationally (with more than 430 stores in North American alone) and generates revenue in excess of four Billion (USD). The Sephora brand has blended itself with beauty on a multicultural level, spotlighting the winsomeness of women everywhere.

Sephora Asia's Pacific Regional Creative Director and Head of Brand [David Teixeira] approached Alex due to her acclaim in creating a range from natural and clean looks to more flamboyant or creative ones. Her talent was utilized in a number of campaigns for Sephora Asia including: International Women's Day, Chinese New Year Campaign, International Lipstick Day Campaign, Sephora Super Ingredients Campaign, Sephora Mobile App Campaign, Sephora Multi-Masking Campaign, and the Skincare Campaign. Alex's propensity for ingenuity was an ideal complement for Sephora with campaigns like "Think Beautiful, Feel Precious" and the "Glow Campaign." Celebrating Hari Raya (the end of Ramadan), "Think Beautiful, Feel Precious" featured models with a hijab as well as without.

Conservatively dressed, the photos relied heavily on very vibrant makeup looks, complements of Alex's skilled work. Greens, purples, and pinks communicated the celebratory mood of the holiday and the women's ability to express it. The aptly named "Glow Campaign" displayed iridescent, colorful, shimmery, glossy, and dewy products available at Sephora and how the makeup trend of glowing/duo-chrome color can be achieved on different skin tones. Asian, Caucasian, and African models were featured. Alex professes, "The Glow campaign was one of my favourites. Besides the fact that I loved the theme and the makeup, it was one of our more comprehensive campaigns, involving group and solo photos, videos, and step-by-step tutorials (both photo and video) on how to achieve the looks using the products available at Sephora. Last but definitely not least, diversity and inclusion is a very crucial movement in the beauty community today and I'm glad to see a beauty giant such as Sephora participating in this. It always delights me when I am included in such projects."

NYLON magazine is a fan of the international approach to women's beauty as well. NYLON is global with publications in Japan, China, Germany, and others, including Singapore. NYLON Singapore's Fashion Editor Josiah Chua was enticed to enlist Alex for the magazine by her creativity. Alex has worked on some on NYLON Singapore's most acclaimed editorials since 2015. These present the variety and diversity of female beauty.

From the glitter-eyed Asian rocker in "Guitar Goddess" to "Helter Skelter" featuring a half African-half Caucasian freckled rebel to the futuristic look of the Caucasian model in "Just an Illusion"; the makeup artist was responsible for cultivating the tone of the photos with a variety of subjects. For someone such as Alex who revels in constantly changing variables that stimulate her creative intellect, it's a coveted scenario. She emphatically agrees, "NYLON Singapore is truly adventurous with their shoots. Because their audience is younger, we can be more fearless with our makeup looks. This is a lot of fun for me because I get to create looks without having to practice too much restraint! It's a big part of what keeps me excited day to day in my career."
