Alexa Ray Joel was born in Manhattan; New York on 29 December, 1985 .She is a singer, songwriter and pianist. All this talents are in her blood because she is the daughter of singer Billy Joel and his second wife, supermodel Christie Brinkley. Her middle name Ray is in honor of the late musician Ray Charles.

She became lyricist at a very young age. Growing up in a musical atmosphere, she developed a gift for singing and songwriting and was always appreciated by her mother Christie Brinkley. Her intense love of music stems from as early as the age of two, when her father would sing and play nursery rhymes for her on the piano. She has taken classical piano training before taking up songwriting.
