London: Outstanding and controversial British fashion designer, Alexander McQueen found dead at his residence in London. He was 48 years old.
With his sudden departure, British fashion industry has lost an innovative and experimental designer. McQueen was named the British Fashion Designer of the Year for four times. His outstanding style has been favored by celebrities like Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Naomi Campbell. The designer's spokeswoman said; "Mr McQueen was found dead this morning at his home. "We're devastated and I hope you understand that out of respect to his family and his colleagues we're not going to be making any further statement," she added. Famed for his impeccable tailoring and distinctive style, McQueen was recognized by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003 as she declared him as the commander of the British Empire for his leadership in fashion designing. Though stood at the top with his caliber, McQueen always stayed away from media frenzy and post-show limelight. He turned down interviews and disappeared from public notices unlike all other contemporary fashion designers. In 1996, McQueen moved to France where also showed off his mastery over fashion designing with John Galliano, as chief designer at Givenchy
