Badal's total movable assets are worth Rs 1.21 crore and immovable assets are worth Rs 5.71 crore. Reporters were not allowed to enter the mini secretariat where he filed his nomination. As Amarinder reached the SDM office to file his papers, a huge crowd of Congress workers and his supporters greeted him. The scene virtually turned chaotic inside the office complex as battery of media persons and his supporters jostled with each other.

After filing his nomination papers, Amarinder told Media that Congress would win the upcoming assembly elections with thumping majority. He said that people have become sick of SAD-BJP government and want to get rid of it. The PPCC President claimed that there is not any division and dissension within the Congress party in Punjab. He said that reports of dissension in the aftermath of ticket distribution reported from some places have been contained to significant extent.

Hitting out at Deputy Chief Minister and SAD President Sukhbir Badal, Amarinder said that Sukhbir has habit of making unfounded and baseless allegations. Dismissing Sukhbir’s allegations that Congress tickets were sold for Rs 25 crores each, Capt Amarinder said, “Congress party does not sell tickets as Akalis do, but if Sukhbir believes that Congress tickets were really sold and that too for such a whopping amount, he should better realize and pack off as it means Congress was certain to form the government in the state as nobody likes to buy a losing stock”.

About the controversy over ticket given to his son Raninder Singh, he said that it was decision of the party high command. He said that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi and AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi will be campaigning in Punjab in the coming days.

He said that they are hopeful of winning over 70 seats. He said that he may not be able to spend much time in Patiala assembly segment as he has to cover each and every assembly segment across Punjab to campaign for the party candidates. “Each resident and every voter in Patiala will be campaigning for me”, he said, while asking, “Do you still think that I need to campaign here?”
