Amazon will make a version its Kindle eReader software available on Google Android run phones. This free Kindle for Android software, will let readers read eBooks bought on Amzon Inc's online Kindle store, apart from allowing users to bookmark pages.
IN A bid to overcome its rival Barnes and Noble eReader Nook, Amazon has announced a tie-up with Google Andriod, which will come into work this summer. In this venture, Amazon will make a version its Kindle eReader software available on Google Android run phones. This way, it hopes to bring in vast Android customers to access its electronic books.
This free Kindle for Android software, will let readers read eBooks bought on Amzon Inc's online Kindle store, apart from allowing users to bookmark pages they are on in current eBooks. It will also allow users to sync their Kindle eReader devices with their Android phones, so that they can start reading a particular eBook on their Android phones and continue on Kindle or vice versa.
The android version of Kindle also allows users to search and browse through 500,000 books, apart from those on the New York Times bestsellers list. It also provides users with free book samples.
Earlier, Amazon had initiated another such venture, with a similar Kindle software available for Apple iPhone. However, it did not allow in-app purchases, as per Apple's policy which permits these with only Apple apps, a problem that does not surface in the Google run Android.
