Amazon Obhijaan graphic novel released
The most anticipated and big budget Bengali film of the year 'Amazon Obhijaan' is once again in the headlines with the release of its graphic novel.

This is the first instance where a film franchisee has released a graphic storybook before the film's theatrical release. Graphic novels based on films are not a new phenomenon as 'Dhoom' franchise, 'Hum Tum', 'Ek Tha Tiger' and 'Sholay' all got a graphic version, and the one thing common being in all of them that their respective graphic versions were released after the films became blockbusters.

'Amazon Obhijaan' is going to be the lone case in Indian film history that a filmmaker is revealing the storyline of the film with the graphic novel prior to the film's release. The graphic novel will be available online in both Bengali and English versions.

It's a huge risk that has been taken up by the filmmaker and the production house because in case the storyline fails to interest the audience, the film will almost certainly end up as a disaster at the box office. However, on the brighter side, in case the story manages to enthral the audience, the film is expected to open to packed theatres this Christmas.

Ace director Kamaleswar Mukherjee has written the script himself and transformed his dream into reality with the support of his team. Now, it is a million dollar question if the film will face a win-win situation or it will negatively affect the box-office.

This graphic novel is been published by BEE Books and protagonist of the film Dev and director gifted signed copies of the novel to the children of Child Rights and You (CRY), Kolkata.

Four years ago, biggest Bengali film till now 'Chander Pahar'had been released. It was a beautiful adaptation by legendary author Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay. The novel remained untouched for years until Kamaleswar Mukherjee gave the classic a visual form.

The film 'Amazon Obhijaan' will hit screens nationwide on Christmas Eve this year. The film is slated to release on December 22.
