IN A bid to expand its market, Amazon tied up with the social networking giant Facebook so that it knows what are the personal likings of the customers and design products based on them.
Amazon has said that it would be using the personal data that is published on Facebook to analyse what type of products are suited for liking for a group of individuals. The profile data base would extend to your friends as well as Amazon thinks they are a good bet when it comes to your likes and dislikes etc. to serve the customers in the best possible way, Amazon will use all these personal information along with your friend’s to design products that appeals you directly.
However, for some of you who are apprehensive about the privacy fiasco that happened with Facebook, Amazon made it clear that these personal data won’t be made public and shared anywhere on Facebook. This comes as a huge relief for privacy seekers.
Amazon added that this new arrangement will not only help the users find new friends while shopping but will let Amazon deliver targeted recommendations to the users as well.
How will it be done?
When a user logs into his/her Amazon account and click on the recommendation section, he/she will be able to link their Facebook account to Amazon account. Once this linking is completed, the user will be directed to a Facebook and Amazon page where he/she can find one’s likes and dislikes along with what their friends are liking or disliking. The page will also show if any of your friends have linked his/her account.
