Ambedkar Jayanti: PM Modi pays rich tributes, visits Nagpur to launch projects
This morning, paying tributes to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Tributes to venerable Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on Ambedkar Jayanti. Jai Bhi."

Modi is visiting Nagpur today to visit Deekshabhoomi Buddhist monument and inaugurate a number of development projects.

In an earlier tweet, he had said that he was extremely honoured to visit Nagpur on the very special occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti and pray at Deekshabhoomi. He asserted about his party's unwavering efforts towards creating a strong, prosperous and inclusive India of Dr Ambedkar's dreams in his tweet.

It is said that the inaugural projects include the setting of institutions such as IIIT, IIM and AIIMS. Modi is going to inaugurate the Koradi thermal power station also. He will also be presenting awards to Mega Draw winners of Lucky Grahak Yojana and DigiDhan Vyapar Yojna along with addressing a public meeting.

Ambedkar Jayanti is an annual observance on 14 April to commemorate the memory and contribution of Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar to the development of India.

The observance marks Ambedkar's birthday in 1891 and is a public holiday throughout India. The political figures of major political parties pay homage at the statue of Ambedkar at the Parliament of India premises in New Delhi.
