Amend gun laws, allow us to carry guns

The police has failed in protecting us. A molested victim is desisted from filing a FIR by the same police, which is supposed to be arbiters of the law. Even an apprehended culprit runs away in spite of handing him to the police.

WE INDIANS suffer from men chauvinism. That's why when a lady approaches a police station for help, the policeman looks with a different eye. Further, corruption is rooted in our fabric. So the moment the lady comes a big cash book is opened in mind by the policemen manning the station.

The police tries its level best to desist from filing a case. At the same time, it attempts to earn money on the side from criminals, acused and the influential by pocketing bribes. This is true of not only Kolkata, where I live but also about the whole country.

If this is the situation, then it is the criminals who are paymasters of criminals. What a great nation! Everybody is using everyone with money and muscle power. Politicians need these criminals more than any one. They even accompany them to the police station and fix a deal.

No one in the media dares to disclose this to us - as media needs income by way of advertising. So, let us protect our own ladies. Let government amend the arms act, and allow us to carry guns to protect ourselves. Politicians, hooligans and party functionaries are already carrying unlicenced guns - so why not we?
