American Hindus greet Christians on Lent
Hindus in the US have wished happiness and peace to Christian communities world over for the upcoming Christian season of Lent, which starts on February 17. The month long period of prayer and abstinence prepares the faithful for Easter.
HINDU STATESMAN Rajan Zed, in a release in Nevada (USA) today, expressed warm greetings to the Christian friends as they begin the season of Lent, wishing that their meditations lead meaningfully to the celebration of Easter.

Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, stressed that all religions should work together for a just and peaceful world. Dialogue would bring us mutual enrichment, he added.

Christianity is the largest religion of the world, while Hinduism with about one billion adherents, is the oldest and third largest religion. Lent is a traditional season in the Christian year consisting of forty days preceding Easter of fasting, penitence and spiritual discipline.
