American Idol 2010: Siobhan Magnus elimination, five remain on Thursday
Siobhan Magnus was eliminated from American Idol season nine on Wednesday, April 28, though she gave a great performance in the Shania Twain special. The top five remaining contestants will now work for a Frank Sinatra special.
AFTER THE Shania Twain special, on Wednesday, April 28, the 20 year old glassblower from Massachusetts, Siobhan Magnus was eliminated from American Idol season nine. Known for her signature shriek, she may not have had a great voice, but Siobhan had a style and was willing to experiment with it.
Siobhan Magnus, the seventh finalist to be eliminated from American Idol season nine, leaves after Tim Urban, getting the fewest votes after a sad performance last week, though she more than covered it on performance night, belting out the Any Man of Mine hit from Shania Twain, which gained much appreciation from the judges.
Randy Jackson, the first to comment, marked her way back into the judges' favorites. He said, "I loved it! I loved the whole kind of punk, country look with the boots -- the whole nine, the big notes, I loved it. I loved it!"
Ellen Degeneres agreed enthusiastically. "Yeah, way to pull the Shania Twain into the station! Good way to end the show, fantastic."
Simon Cowell, who had famously labelled her scream one time, as worse than a woman giving birth said, "You know what, I really, really liked that song, and I'm not normally kind of a fan of country music. But I thought the song was perfect."
When Ryan Seacrest announced that Siobhan Magnus had to leave for home, she remained stoic and simply said, "I did my best and I hope that I was able to show them what we're all capable of."
All four judges comforted Siobhan Magnus, while Lynche and James went behind, glad to be saved.
The five finalists left now have four men and only one woman left on American Idol season nine. The five remaining contestants - James, Lynche, Lee Dewyze, Aaron Kelly and Crystal Bowersox, will next try their hand at Frank Sinatra's music.
