American President Barack Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize for promoting peace and cooperation among different people. Obama was not a top contender for the award but the Nobel was awarded to him for his work promoting peace.

AMERICAN PRESIDENT Barack Obama has won the Nobel Peace prize 2009 much to the delight of his supporters across the the world. The nomination of the American President for Noble peace prize was announced today.

Obama, who was in the shortlist of the nominees was not a clear favourite and this award will surprise the world. The American president managed to pip the Chinese dissidents, who were front runners for winning the Nobel Peace prize for this year.

Obama has been granted the Nobel for strengthening diplomacy and cooperation across the world. His role in promoting cooperation between people of different descents and his efforts to bring about a reconciliation with the Muslim world has been cited for the award to be given to US president Obama.

Speculation was rife that the Nobel committee would give the award to those opposed to the Chinese regime. There was no mention even in the media that Barack Obama could be a front runner for this top award.
