There are two teen sensations in swimming in London Olympics called Missy Franklin and Katie Ledecky who are making a splash in the pool. With an indefatigable commitment and urge to win medals, Franklin is going to be the best Olympics swimmer this summer.
THE 17-year-old American swimmer Missy Franklin has already claimed three gold medals. Not only that, she has smashed the
world record in the 200m backstroke.
Franklin recorded the time of 2:04.06, breaking the previous best record set by Kirsty Coventry in Rome in 2009 in the event. She is in for another medal as a part of the US women's 4x100m freestyle relay. Undoubtedly, she is going to be the most successful swimmer in
London Olympics.
I can't believe what just happened," said humble and unassuming Franklin after she broke the world record -n 200m backstroke. It may be noted that Franklin is competing in seven events at her first Olympics.
The 15-year-old American swimmer Katie Ledecky, has also won the gold medal by defeating the defending champion Rebecca Adlington in the 800m freestyle in 8:14.63. Thus, Katie crushed the hopes of Britain’s Adlington for a repeat of an Olympic gold before her home fans.
It was at the 2012 United States Olympic Trials, her first major competition, Ledecky made the Olympic team for the first time by standing first in the 800-meter freestyle hopefuls with a time of 8:19.78.
