BOLLYWOOD SUPERSTAR Amitabh Bachchan today rubbished media reports that attributed him saying that the Mumbai metro would be intruding into his privacy . Claiming to be a proud Mumbaikar, he said that he was never opposed to Mumbai's development.
The whole issue started, when Bachchan blogged that the construction of Mumbai metro would invade his privacy. He said that the comments he had left on his blog were misinterpreted by the media. In his defence, the 67-year old actor said that Mumbai as a city had given him and his family a place in their hearts besides recognition and respect. The Bachchan family in no way, would ever at any point of time like to disregard the conveniences of the fellow Mumbaikars and the development being undertaken for a better future for the city and them.
Congress leader Naseem Khan, however said development of the city was far more important than safeguarding Bachchan's privacy. The 32-kilometre Charkop-Bandra route is expected to be used by 22 lakh commuters every day and the construction will be taking place in the larger interests of the people, he added.Bachchan further blogged by saying "My blog represents my heart and on the matter of the Metro it clearly says the 'general happiness’ that it brings to ‘commuters’ and that 'the misery of crowded locals and the uncertainties of the three wheeler or the yellow black cab shall hopefully be greatly reduced.”
