Amitabh Bachchan is first choice to replace Aamir Khan as brand ambassador of 'Incredible India'
Now when it is confirmed that Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is no more brand ambassador of Incredible India campaign, news reports have started surfacing about the next best choice for this post. And if sources are to be believed megastar Amitabh Bachchan is the first choice to be the next brand ambassador.

Reportedly the Union tourism ministry is also expected to send a formal letter to Amitabh today offering him the role of Incredible India campaign's brand ambassador.

According to the sources quoted by media outlets being a "non-controversial" figure, the veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan is tourism ministry's first choice.

The move comes after the ministry's decision to not renew contract with Aamir Khan.

"It was the (private) agency which has hired him. Since the contract with the agency is no more, automatically the arrangement with the actor no longer exists," said Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma as reported in Indian Express.

Earlier when Amitabh Bachchan was asked about the removal of Khan from 'Incredible India' campaign, he said, "I think you need to clarify first whether he is being removed because of something that he may have said or it's the end of his contract. I am sure that there must be some kind of difference there. I don't think that people are removed just because they did not agree or said something that is controversial."

The Bollywood superstar has also said that he would not mind being a part of the campaign if government asks him for the same. The megastar is already the brand ambassador for Gujarat Tourism.

Responding on the issue, Aamir Khan had said that he respects the government's decision while adding that all the public service films done by him till date were free of cost.

"It has been an honor and a pleasure for me to be the brand ambassador for the Incredible India campaign for the past 10 years. Whether I am brand ambassador or not, India will remain Incredible," the actor's statement said.

There were speculations that Khan's contract was not renewed because of his controversial comments regarding alleged rise in intolerance in the country. He had said that he and his wife considered moving out of India due to huge "insecurity" and "fear." The comment was hugely criticised by several people including Bollywood stars, politicians and commoners.
