An analysis for AGP and other non-congress parties in Assam
An analysis focusing the cause of severe defeat of regional party Asom Gana Parishad and its failure to form a non-congress government in Assam.
IF THE Asom Gana Parishad wants to come back to power they much reach the grassroot level and new leaders much be groomed, a review session must undertaken, and the party should remember that failure is not possible until they stop trying. So without wasting valuable time they must work from the present moment till the next election.

Go and win the hearts of the people. First, from the grassroots bring new faces with new leadership and a lot more changes. This is definitely possible and Asom Gana Parishad should not think that this is impossible.

Another important point is that Indian politics is regarded as based on money and muscle power, but it’s not all the time correct, there are other ways to come to power. And again, if we take the example of the recent elections, the core cause for not being able to form a non-congress government is mainly because the lack of alliance of AGP, BJP and other non-congress parties.

Here are some statistics, in terms of votes in particular constituencies, to understand the recent elections better.

Dispur:
Congress- 83071, AGP- 74810, BJP- 29056 (AGP+BJP=103866)
Guwahati East:
Congress- 47706, AGP- 29622, BJP- 43714 (AGP+BJP=73336)
Guwahati West:
Congress- 54326, AGP- 35350, BJP- 43010 (AGP+BJP=78360)
Nalbari:
Congress- 39896, AGP- 31673, BJP- 12507 (AGP+BJP=44180)
Dhudhnoi:
Congress 46890, AGP- 40873, BJP- 10445 (AGP+BJP=51318)

These are but a few examples of some of the constituencies, and if we go through statistics of other constituencies, we will find that that the difference in winning margins have been quite narrow. Therefore, the Congress may now be saying that the people of Assam wanted them in power but the analysis of vote share and winning margins indicates that a large number of voters voted against the Congress party. But as majority rules so the winner gets lucky, same goes for the opposition.
