On the eve of New Year, Google's last doodle of the year wishes Happy New Year 2014. It is a partly interactive doodle showing numbers 2, 0, 1, and 3 on the dance floor with the number 4 waiting along the sides. It is waiting for its turn to replace 3 with the word Google is seen sandwiched between two speakers, with the second O replaced by a disco ball. As usual, Google is creative with their last Google Doodle as well.
The doodle has a few small squares that are changing colours to represent the dance floor lights in various colours. It is the part of Google doodles series of the holiday season, since Christmas Eve.
A day after Christmas, Google continued to wish its users by displaying a happy holidays doodle on its homepage. If one moved the cursor on the doodle then a message 'Tis the season!' appeared. The doodle after Christmas displayed a house covered and surrounded by snow with a clear and bright sky on its background. To make the festival season appear secular, Google doodle has wished its users 'Happy Holidays!' on its homepage rather than wishing Merry Christmas! on the Christmas Day.
However, some viewers felt uneasy with the fact that Google is trying to become diplomatic. Further, it gave rise to a hot on-line debate of "Merry Christmas vs. Happy Holidays."
