An exclusive interview with sauve & sultry Tamara Moss
Mumbai-based model, Tamara Moss with her suave and sultry image has created a wave in the modelling circuit. Here, in an exclusive interview with CJ Stylekandy, the model talks about how her career began and her likes and dislikes
MUMBAI-BASED model, Tamara Moss with her suave and sultry image has created a wave in the modelling circuit. Be it the much talked about 'Kingfisher Calendar' or the recent 'Provogue' campaigns, you can notice her everywhere! She is often seen on fashion runways in New York, Milan, Paris and India. Bollywood is not far away for this leggy lass!

In an exclusive interview, this Indo-Dutch beauty enlists the other priorities of life. She began her career three years ago, when Anil Anand began sending out her Polaroids. She did many interesting shoots with Prabuddho Das Gupta. However, the fashion scene at the time was largely unprofessional with self-proclaimed coordinators making work most unpleasant for budding talent. Show fees were not paid on time, in the case of Ramesh Dembla, a designer, show fees were not paid at all! Then while in Bangalore, she met Rashmi Virmani, who convinced her to sign on with a Delhi based agency called 'The Ramp', which was not a pleasant experience.

Eventually, she moved to Mumbai to continue a professional career with a well-established agency. “I am thrilled to work with managers who have their finger on the pulse of fashion and commercial work in India. You need both! The best thing about being a model is the international travel and highly creative professionals I work with,” she says.

When asked about her thoughts on the dialouge, 'models are used as hangers', she scoffs. “If only it was that easy! Obviously the scriptwriter knows nothing about the amount of work, which goes into modelling as a career or was just trying to make some metaphorical or character revealing point.”

Tamara doesn't believe that a model should have a particular 'Right look' or 'Right attitude'. “Be yourself!” she exclaims. “ People in the industry are mature enough to know that you are young and fallible.”

On the question of the designers she admired, she said,“ I love Rajesh Pratap Singh, for the fit and because the clothes channel androgynous effortlessly.” She also admitted to tearing up and redesigning her own clothes.
