An interview with AAP's MLA Girish Soni from Delhi's Madipur constituency
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was formally launched on 26 November 2012. It came into existence with a vow to fight against corruption while becoming the part of the political system. Arvind Kejriwal, who started the fight against corruption with anti-corrpution crusader Anna Hazare, led the AAP's entry into the political arena with thousands of common people in their support.

The party made its debut in the 2013 Delhi Legislative assembly elections with broom as its election symbol, and emerged as the second largest party with 28 seats out of the total 70.

We talked to AAP's newly elected MLA Girish Soni, who has won the election from Madipur constituency. Soni defeated BJP's candidate Kailash Sankla with a margin of 1103 votes. Here's excerpts from the interview:

Q: Why did you join AAP and not any other party?

Girish Soni (GS): I joined AAP because it is a fair party, and it has been fighting against the corruption and the party was fighting with those issues that focuses on the need of comman people.

Q: From where did you get the funding for contesting the election ?

GS: Most of our fundings are from party funds and above that we have arranged it by ourselves.

Q: As you are an MLA now, what will be your future plans or goals?

GS: Whatever issues we were fighting for before the elections, we will continue doing so. We will try our best to meet the expectations of the people.

Q: Now it's been clear that AAP is not forming the Govt. So what will be your next step in this regard?

GS: We will sit in the opposition and try to focus on the issues that we were focussing earlier.

Q: Is there any role models in politics which you followed ever?

GS: As such there are no role models, but I really like the ideology of Anna Hazaare and Arvind Kejriwal who have been fighting for the right cause and I am really impressed with their ideas and political standard.
