Analysis: Advertisements by Modi govt vs Advertisements by Kejriwal govt
It was really a difficult task to do a comparison between the working style of Narendra Modi government and Arvind Kejriwal government with respect to advertisements that both the governments have issued about their policies and schemes.

Actually there is no comparison at all as PM Narendra Modi himself is above any such kind of judgment or assessment. But, I can't ignore the compulsive realism and the obsessive negativity in the political atmosphere of our country at present.

Every government issues advertisements to make people aware about the latest policies, appeals, strategies, plans, achievements or government guidelines. Advertisements are really needed to communicate and sensitise, inform and educate the public.

Every government does that. But the problem lies when a government becomes self glorifying, self congratulatory, sexist or starts accusing others without any logic.

Let's analyse some advertisements issued by Modi government so far:

1. Swachch Bharat Abhiyan: PM Narendra Modi is often ridiculed by opposition and his critics that he makes everything an event. But honestly, can anyone deny that this highly publicised campaign has really sensitised people about cleanliness! Nowadays even a child knows (bachha bachha janta hai) that we need to keep our surrounding clean.

2. Atal Pension Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana: These two advertisements have Amitabh Bacchhan as the face. These two schemes launched by the government need to reach the mass. So the advertisement is necessary.

3. Give up you LPG Subsidy: Through this advertisement government appealed to people that if they could afford then they should give up their LPG subsidy, so that the government can use that money to help the needy.

4. Beti Bachhao, Beti Badhao: This was launched to sensitise and motivate people to stop female foeticide and educate girl child.

I think even a worst critic (if he/she is not cynical) can say that the advertisements issued by Modiji or his government were neither accusing anyone nor doing self-glorification. Isn't it?

Now let's analyse some advertisements by Kejriwal's AAP government:

1. Arvind, the savior: I have already written five points about this advertisement which makes me uncomfortable. If one analyses the content of this ad honestly, then one will find tads of "self glorification of an Individual", sexism, blatant accusation and allegations apart from white lies and contradictory facts.

2. Vo Pareshan Karte Rahe, Hum Kaam Karte Rahe: This ad was released by the AAP government after announcing Delhi's budget and doing round these days. The contents in this ad are in future tense. Education will be good, CCTVs will be put in place, Health will be good….etc and nothing is in actuality so far.

Again there are accusations and allegations in the tagline itself. Let me ask Mr. Kejriwal what work his government has done so far? What are the achievements of his government?

Are they counting their confrontation with LG, with Centre and with Delhi Police as their achievement? Having 8 cabinet ministers in Delhi assembly while the limit is 7 including CM, is an achievement? Making the DDC commissioner enjoy the rank of Cabinet minister is achievement? Is the (unnecessary) appointment of 21 MLAs as Parliamentary Secretaries to the six ministers in Kejriwal Cabinet at the cost of tax payer's money an achievement?

3. Appeal to PM to handover Delhi police to Delhi government: Following the unfortunate brutal murder of a Delhi woman, Meenakshi, this ad has been released by Arvind Kejriwal appealing PM Narendra Modi to handover Delhi Police to the Delhi government.

Only a shameless and totally an insensitive CM can use this incident to blame the Centre and Delhi Police and make such demand.

Let me say if Delhi Police is handed over to the Delhi government at present, then I bet more than half of the Delhi Police will commit suicide (courtesy Kejriwal calling police personnel "Thulla").

Second, no where he has taken the responsibility of the incident as a CM. No where it was mentioned if that area was adequately lit or not, why there was no commandos in that area…I mean those things, which fall in the domain of Delhi government, the advertisement mysteriously lacks the same. The ad again contains crude allegations and accusations against PM Modi in particular.

All these make me feel that Kejriwal himself is having a "Modimania" and suffers from a psychopathological disorder of repeated unreasonable allegations.

Of course, I agree with "Hum Karte Rahe" tagline…because they (AAP) are doing the same what they are best at. Street agitations, crude allegations, self-glorifications while maintaining a deathly silence on real issues like Lokpal, Swaraj, CCTVs, Free Wi-Fi etc.

The motto of this article is to give a snap shot of functioning of the Modi government at the Centre and AAP government in Delhi.

Let's see and find out who is working for the people and who is working for the self interest. I think the answer is very simple provided one is not pathologically cynical….I feel.
