Anandpur Sahib in Punjab gets set for three-day Hola Mahalla festival of Sikhs
Anandpur Sahib in Punjab and the Gurudwaras around the world get ready to celebrate the festival Hola Mahalla on the second day of the lunar month of Chet. In Anandpur Sahib, the festival is celebrated for three days. This year, the festival will be begin on Friday, 22 March and end on Sunday, 24 March.

The preparations are on for processions with standard-bearers, Panj Piyaras, for proceeding to a given location with sprinkle colored powders with demonstrate martial skills in simulated battles.

In Anandpur Sahib, Hola Mahalla became an annual big event held in an open ground near Holgarh, a fort across the rivulet Charan Ganga which is attended by lakhs of devotees to witness various displays of martial arts and listening to kirtan, music, and poetry. In various Gurdwara, visitors and followers sit together in Pangats  and for collective meals or Langars.

District Administration has developed a mobile app named 'Hola Mohalla Suvidha' for the facility of devotees visiting Kiratpur Sahib and Anandpur Sahib for Hola Mohalla. Fiurther, the festival concludes on the day of Hola Mohalla with a long, military-style procession near Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib. The Nihang with their distinctive blue traditional robes and dumala can be prominently seen at the Hola Mahalla festival.
