According to the police, in an encounter with the security forces in Kashmir's Anantnag district on Friday, four terrorists were killed including the head of the Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK).

The head of ISJK has been identified as Dawood by the police. ISJK is an affiliate of the ISIS. During the exchange of fire between terrorists and the security forces in village Srigufwara, a policeman and a civilian were also killed, a senior police officer said.

Three civilians are also reported to be critical.

Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid said, "Four terrorists have been killed in the encounter at Srigufwara and their bodies have been recovered."

The encounter happened when the security forces were conducting a search and cordon operation in Khiram in Srigufwara area of the south Kashmir district this morning after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

The search operation turned into a gunfight when the terrorists fired at the forces, who had to retaliate. Soon protesters started pelting stones at the forces near the clash site, a police official said.

Several civilians were injured when security forces had to use force on the protesters. According to a PTI report, as a precautionary measure, mobile internet services have been suspended in three districts namely Srinagar, Anantnag and Pulwama.
