The High Court closed the case but a lower court ordered a fresh probe in May last year.

Asserting that Anara Gupta sex scandal has been brushed under the carpet as some powerful politicians and businessmen were involved in the case, Jammu based Hindu Shiv Sena today organized a strong protest against the release of the movie.

The protestors allege that the movie will trivialize the facts in the case and will have a bearing on the judiciary as well. Here it must be mentioned that Anara Gupta sex scandal is still under the consideration of the courts and has yet to be decided.

Interestingly, the Ahmedabad based Forensic Lab, where the pornographic CD was sent for scrutiny had declared that the girl in film was not Anara Gupta. However, the matter assumed complications, when a Forensic Laboratory in Chandigarh said that the heroine of the porn CD was indeed Anara Gupta.

Jammu based Shiv Sena leader, Anan Sharma, who led the protest, said that the release of the movie will frustrate the investigation against Anara Gupta, the prime accused in the porn CD case. He alleged that due to the involvement of high and mighty in the case it was being handled very lightly, adding, “How can a prime accused act in a movie when the issue is subjudice?”

They also sent a legal notice to the state Chief Secretary and District Magistrate Jammu seeking ban on the exhibition of the film under Rule 17 of Jammu and Kashmir Cinematograph Rules, 1989. The legal notice requested the administration to ban the release of the film in Jammu citing that the investigation was still pending against her in pornographic CD row and the film having “objectionable script” could hurt the sentiments of the public.

Meanwhile, former Ms Jammu Anara Gupta, unfazed by the protests, said that she was confident about the success of the movie. She, however, admitted that the shooting of the movie was really painful as it depicted some real life scenes. “It portrays the pain and trauma which was felt by me during the incarceration,” adding that she was not trying to cash in the controversy.

In a related development to this case, two senior police officers, who were suspended for poor handling of the Anara Gupta case were reinstated by the government. The order reinstating Superintendent of Police Deepak Salathia and Deputy SP Tanveer Jeelani came just three days prior to the release of the film today.
