Y S Rajashekhara Reddy lost his life in an unfortunate chopper accident. A doctor by profession, the statesman had been the party president for the Congress's Andhra Pradesh wing who won the trust of people with effective slogans of credibility.
ANDHRA PRADESH Chief Minister YSR Reddy died in a tragic accident after the chopper carrying him along with four others, crashed 40 kms away from Kurnool.
YSR Reddy was born to YS Raja and Jayamma Reddy on July 8, 1949, in a small village called Pulivendula in Andhra Pradesh. He began his political career around thirty years ago and served twice as Andhra Pradesh's chief minister. He graduated in medical science from Gulbarga University. Before starting his career into politics, he was elected as the leader of the House Surgeon's Association at SV Medical College, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.He plunged into the Andhra assembly from the Pulivendula constituency and won from here about five terms. The assembly witnessed the orator rise from an MLA to the Chief Minister of the state. Many important portfolios like rural development, medical health and education were handled by him. He rendered his services to the Congress and Andhra Pradesh, serving as a minister in the state's government from 1980-1983. The Kadapa constituency was his strong bastion and he reached the nineth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth Lok Sabha from here four times.
Following on the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi, he took a three month padyatra across several districts in AP in 2003. In the next general and assembly elections in 2004, his party witnessed a massive win. He had been the leader of the opposition for five years and raised many issues of public interest.From 1983 to 1985 and from 1998 to 2000, YSR was the President of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) During his tenure as the President, he always worked and stood by his party workers and for the people of his state.In 2004, his party won 185 seats in the assembly elections and YSR became the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. A lot number of programmes like Jalayagnam, Arogya Shree, Pavala Vaddi etc were initiated by YSR for the people of AP. Development and credibility were his slogans for the 2009 election, which worked for him and the party were successful in winning 156 seats required for the majority in the assembly. The Congress was also victorious in 33 Lok Sabha constituencies. On May 20, 2009, after being elected the leader of Congress legislative party in Andhra Pradesh, he took oath of office and secrecy for the term 2009-2014 at Hyderabad's Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium. The country has indeed lost a great leader and his place would not be filled for many more years to come by.

.May his soul rest in peace!!!! Do's & don'ts: There should be a ban on the following to prevent repeat of this kind
of disasters:
1) During monsoon season, there should be a complete ban on using of
helicopters.
2) Even during non monsoon season, if the weather forecast is not
encouraging, ban should be imposed on using of helicopters.
3) The fact remains that helicopters cannot rise beyond a certain level;
therefore, in bad weather like cloudy sky, moving helicopters are
at great risk!!!! Therefore, only under CLEAN SKY CONDITIONS,
usage of helicopters should be allowed.
4) Regular drills involving safety measures while travelling in
helicopters should be made compulsory for all travellers. The drill
must include usage of emergency exit either by air baloon safety
devices or by climbing down the helicopter through rope ladder. Other
safety methods should also be introduced.
5) Carrying Satellite telephones should be mandated in each and
every helipcopter.
6) Fire & water proof jackets should be kept in each helicopter for
emergencies.
7) Old and outdated helicopters should be kept out of service;
maintenance of each and every helicopter should be of the highest
order.
