AT LAST, the banned National Democratic front of Bodoland (BODO) has freed Andhra engineer P Krishna Rao safely on Tuesday, November 17, at the checkpost of Bangaigav in Assam.
The engineer who is working for the Gayatri Constructions, had been supervising work at the National highway number 31, at Joepur, when he was kidnapped by the militants and taken to the nearby forests. He was their captive for 32 days.
The militants kept his kidnapping quiet for two weeks, after which they demanded a ransom of crores of rupees for his life. The construction company and the Assam government were involved in negotiations with the militants for nearly two weeks, before he was released.
Soon after his release, Krishna Rao spoke to his family members in Gannavaram of Vijayawada.
His family has been running from pillar to post to secure his safe release for some time and had even contacted local MNA Dr Dasari Balavardhna Rao, as part of these efforts.
