The state government has come out with a statement through the Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu that the committee wanted much more time to prepare the interim report by meeting the Reserve Bank officials, Scheduled Bank officials and Central Minister of Finance to discuss about the waiver to come to a viable solution for the farmers and government.
However the state finance minister said that the Naidu-led Government has committed to fulfil the election promise. He also said that Chief Minister is going to New Delhi on 26 and 27th to meet Prime Minister and other Ministers there he has to discuss this matter with them. It appears that the Andhra government wanted to throw some burden on Union Government or bring pressure on Reserve Bank to concede what the Naidu will tell.
All this make AP farmers to wait for some more time to know the waving policy of the government. Already majority of farming community has come to understand that their hopes of crop loan waiver has been foiled.
The YSR Congress Party which is a main opposition in the Assembly has been waiting for the announcement regarding the waiver of farming loans.
On the other side the neighbouring state government is ready to make an official statement in a day or two regarding waiver of all crop loans including gold loans which are below one lakh rupees.
Both the governments have come to power only with this promise. Now the Andhra Pradesh government is looking for the ways to escape, as it is starting with the deficit budget and asking the farmers to cooperate with them.
