However Apple took an year to reach the mark of 50,000 applications, it seems that the Android is giving tough competition to Apple Market and is proving to be the alternative market for mobile apps. The Android Market was announced on August 28, 2008 and it was in the market in October, 2008.  

 
At present, Apple is having about 200,000 applications which is available in the Apple Stores near to your place. Apple has also launched an application relating to porn download but previously, Apple CEO Steve Jobs wrote in an e-mail, "You know, there’s a porn store for Android. You can download nothing but porn. You can download porn, your kids can download porn. That’s a place we don’t want to go – so we’re not going to go there".
 

Android devices are touching the sky these days and other smart devices like the Dell Mini 5 and Sprint Evo are also in the frame but the market for Android applications are showing no sign of slowing down. It is an great achievement by Android as last week they announced that they have crossed 38,000 applications but recently they confirmed that they have crossed 50,000 mark.
