Even after a week of Mirinda?s missing and after four days of her dead body found in a nearby hillock, the Manipur police have failed to book the culprits. Instead, the locals lynched the alleged culprits on August 18.

MAIBAM MIRINDA, a five-year-old girl from Thoubal district of Manipur was brutally raped and killed, and her dead body was found hanging at Wabagai Tentha Thambal hillock under Kakching Police station in Thoubal district of Manipur on August 14. An angry mob lynched a couple for their alleged involvement in the brutal murder. The couple has been identified as Samjetsabam Suranjoy son of Budhi and his wife Amutombi Devi of Yairok Pechi in Manipur.

According to police, Suranjoy was lynched by a mob at around 5:30 pm on 18th August around five kms away from the Wabagai Police station, Thoubal district. One hour later in the evening, the angry mob assaulted Suranjoy’s wife who succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital. The couple is survived by five sons, the eldest being 22-year-old, and the youngest only four-year-old, the police informed, reported the website kanglaonline.

While their four sons have been picked up by the police and kept at the Kakching Police, the last son is in the custody of his uncle. Sources also informed that just before he was lynched to death, Suranjoy on being interrogated by the mob confessed to raping the four-year-old and killing her later on. According to the source, he had confessed to the angry mob that on August 12 he took the four-year-old child to his home and raped her. He had also confessed that after raping the child, he killed her and placed her covered by straws in their cow-shed. Later at night, the same day, he along with his wife took the dead body to the hillock and placed it there, he had said.

Meanwhile, it may be mentioned that, the dead body of a four and three month old girl identified as as  Maibam Miranda alias Angangmacha, daughter of Jaykumar alias Enao of Wabagai Tentha Thambal village was found from Wabagai Tentha Thambal hillock which is located 7 kms north from Kakching police station on August 14. She was found missing since August 12 and her disappearance was reported the same day at about 1.30 pm to the local police station.

She was found without any clothing and hanged to a tree at a seed farm located atop Thambal Hillock. Her eyes were apparently gouged out, and several scars were witnessed on her forehead. the man should not be killed in one shot. He should be killed gradually, slowly in front of the masses for a year or so... b'cos his criminality is too high on the innocent girl... thank God he died..
