Anil Kapoor to make television debut with 24
The Slumdog Millionaire actor is back, not with a Bollywood movie but with his own America-inspired Indian series 24. Aiming to do something out of the box, the series will test not only Anil Kapoor but also his new production house.

ANIL KAPOOR, who is known to have a successful career in India and the US, is going to work in a project that is 'bigger than all his previous films' or so, he says. The Slumdog Millionaire star would be the Indian Jack Bauer of the famous thriller series 24. The series in India would have the same name and the show would be shown on Colors during the summer of 2013.

This is the first time that the 55-year-old actor would be seen on small screen and it is also the first show of his home production. Talking to NNIS, Anil Kapoor said, “I agree it is a US based show but it is one of the first shows that got international fame. So it was not really American centric show as it was successful in various countries that had no resemblance to America or its way of life.”

The actor himself featured in the Season 8 of the US series as President Oman Hassan of the fictional Islamic Republic of Kamistan. Talking about it, the actor said, “That’s where it all started. After I shot a few episodes in the US, I had this feeling this show would work wonderfully in India.”

The thriller series revolves around the iconic Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) leader who is out to save the world in just 24 hours, hence the name. The Colors CEO Raj Nayak terms Anil Kapoor as a 'brave one' and also says that no one could have played Jack Bauer better than Kapoor himself. He said, “There will be lots of parallels drawn between the US show and India. Anil faces huge pressure, as he will be compared to Kiefer. But as long as we put up a good show, the viewers will be happy.”

Presently the crew and Kapoor are looking after the making of the series, whose first season will feature in Mumbai. Hopefully Kapoor with his production house is able to keep up with the hype of the original series and make something that everyone is proud of.
