Addressing a rally at the Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Wednesday, January 30, social activist Anna Hazare announced that a 'Jantantra Morcha' to fight for people's rights will be formed soon.
After delivering an oath to hundreds of people, Hazare said that it was decided to form a country-wide organisation, Jantantra Morcha, to work for people's causes and safeguard their rights. He chose Patna's Gandhi Maidan for the rally and stayed at socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan's house to send a strong message to the political class to restore people's rule or Jantantra in the country.
Reacting to Sonia Gandhi's letter, regarding the passage of Lokpal Bill in coming session of parliament, Hazare said that there was nothing new in the letter and the central government had been cheating people over the issue. "The government's intention is not clear on this issue," he added.
Hazare called on the youth and common people to build a new India free from corruption. He told the gathering that the morcha would fight for 'Jan Lokpal'; electoral reform of right to reject and right to recall; more effective Right to Information Act and decentralization of power.
Meanwhile, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has supported Hazare's countrywide movement to strengthen democracy and good work of awakening the people in the country.
Hope the Patna rally becomes the harbinger of the legacy of JP's anti-graft movement and fulfillment of his dream of total revolution!
