He has set a deadline of August-2012 for the government to file criminal cases against 14 specific Cabinet ministers and also for speedy disposal of cases against 1300 other elected MPs and MLAs who are facing criminal charges.
His deputy Arvind Kejriwal went a step further and made a mention of specific names of political leaders irrespective of the colour of party. Other senior members like Kiran Bedi and Shanti Bhushan of Anna Haare’s team were also present on the dais.
Hazare has said that unless the government becomes serious and takes necessary action by August, his agitation would go to the next stage – the ‘jail bharo andolan’. The date would be decided after the end of the current session of Parliament.
He has also committed to join forces with Baba Ramdev and both would take up cudgels to fight for a common cause, namely to root out corruption and unearth the black money.
On the subject of ‘whistle blowers’ who have been made victims of corrupt officials, Hazare said that the government is insensitive to the feelings of the people and have gone deaf and dumb. India is facing a situation where political representatives with dubious antecedents are defaming the august house.
