Another incident in which a BPO employee was dragged into the car and gangraped then dumped somewhere in the outskirts has occurred in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. When will our tainted city get rid of this particular evil?
A YOUNG BPO employee, who had come all the way from Manipur to earn and make a living was kidnapped and gangraped.
The victim, aged 30 years, was returning from her workplace in Gurgaon and walking towards her rented accommodation in Moti village near Dhaula Kuan along with her colleague when three-four men forced her into their vehicle.
The unfortunate incident took place around 1:30 am. Both the women were walking down to their accommodation when a vehicle pulled the victim in their car and fled before the other female could contact the police. She did call the police but by then they had fled with the victim.
Around an hour later, the victim contacted Mongolpuri police station, where she claimed she was dumped after the heinous act. Her medical examination has confirmed rape.
An FIR has been lodged against the unknown assailants.
Gang rapes of BPO employees working odd hours have become quite common in the city. Most of the girls come here from far way places for a lucrative career in BPO centres.
Their odd hours and lack of proper security arrangements place these employees in a vulnerable situation. It again raises questions as to whose responsibility is it to ensure the women employees reach safely till their doorsteps? Is it not the company’s responsibility to give door-to-door drop if the work is in such odd hours?
