Another house meeting and more plans but no execution
Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) in a house meeting seemed clueless about the civic problems of the city as only talk and old plans were repeated with some new added suggestions. Local people and councillors are concerned when things will change.

MCG HOSTED its house meeting in the auditorium of the secretariat on August 23, and it was attended by both MCG and HUDA's officials, and the discussion revolved around various existing local problems and their tentative solutions.

Meeting was headed by Gurgaon's mayor Vimal Yadav, HUDA's Administrator Praveen Kumar, Senior deputy mayor Yashpal Batra, Deputy Mayor Parminder Kataria and Secretary Anju Chaudhary and attended by the councillors of 31 wards including Rishi Raj Rana, Ravinder Yadav, Gaje Singh, Shashi Kala, Lakhpat Kataria and others.

In the meeting, the corporation's Joint Commissioner KK Gupta with Superintending Engineer YK Garg was also present and kept their issues in front of the assembly. Councillors also put up grievances of their local wards and their people. They also requested the corporation to involve them in public welfare tasks run by the government. As per councillor Sunita Kataria, councillors have no value and are not given any authority to be a part of decision making, as they don't have any power.

Councillors were concerned for HUDA sectors as well, and they informed HUDA Administrator about the problems in these areas, and requested HUDA for some development work, which is needed. They also requested Praveen Kumar to help them in providing some basic facilities to the residents and put in the best possible effort to improve their present situation.

In return, HUDA administrator assured all councillors about their plans and their execution, and promised planned constructions from now on. He also promised all councillors to engage them in all kinds of development activities.

Mayor Vimal Yadav also did not miss an opportunity to make new promises to councillors and informed them about corporation's new ambitious plans of development, and assured them to make new policies.

The meeting ended with seemingly happy and satisfied faces of councillors but it was again a clear example of consoling a child with false promises - the reality will emerge once follow-up of these promises and policies takes place.
