Anti-Sikh violence on the rise in post-9/11 US
Anti-Sikh violence in the US has a long history of over a century. But it has returned with a vengeance after the 9/11 terror attack on the US.
SIKH MEN and women are being targeted by white people in a case of mistaken identity because of their turban and beard of men folks and head-scarf of women mistaken as a veil. Also, racist crime is on the rise among white youth.

One may recall that within the first week after 9/11, over 600 racist attacks took place against Sikhs. Also. the racist attacks on the South Asian American communities have increased many-folds after 9/11.
Statistics also indicate that almost forty per cent of Sikhs in New York City have reported being called derogatory names, teased or harassed because of their identity. Invariably, all Sikhs have to endure secondary screenings at US airports.
