GOOGLE HAS to answer some antitrust questions, according to the antitrust experts, before it completes the $12.5 billion acquisition of Motorola Mobility. Other major mobile manufacturing companies such as HTC, Samsung, LG and Sony Ericsson are said to be wary of the merger between the two companies. The companies who produce Android handsets are especially worried about the deal, says Gary Reback, the Silicon Valley antitrust attorney.
Google, who is better known for its business in the Internet sector has entered into a serious business where they are buying Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc for a cash amount of $12.5 billion. It is also considered to be one of the biggest deals that Google has been involved in.
In its press release, Google stated, “Together, we will create amazing user experiences that supercharge the entire Android ecosystem for the benefit of consumers, partners and developers.”
Some experts are of the view that Google has struck this deal so that they would get access to a variety of technology patents in order to defend against any kind of legal action by its rivals. It has to be remembered that Google also failed to win the bid in buying around a thousand patents from Nortel, which they seriously wanted to purchase for its benefit.
